Representation
The MLA represents its members on various committees including the BMF Council, the BMF Technical Committee, the RYA Training Committee, the Certifying Authority Standards Committee, the RORC Committee, the Yachtmaster Qualification Panel and monthly informal meetings with the RYA. It also makes representations to Government Departments when necessary.
Website
Each member gets a free website listing on www.marineleisure.co.uk and there is an opportunity to enhance this by opting for the ADVANCED SEARCH functionality for a nominal charge renewable each year.
MLA Annual Brochure
The Association produces its own annual colour promotional brochure containing general information and a list of current members. The brochure is launched at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show and is distributed to visitors to the show and in response to general enquiries. An online version is also available on the website and includes direct hyperlinks to our member’s websites.
Charter Agreements
MLA members have exclusive use of three Charter Agreements; namely Bareboat, Skippered and Management for their business. These documents were originally written in 2006 to fully comply with current legislation by an independent, external law firm. These specifically prepared documents are for sole use by MLA members and are currently under review by the Executive Committee.
Publication Offers
MLA members can take advantage of preferential rates for Reeds Almanacs and
Imray Charts. All publications can be ordered at any time of the year.
Boat Shows
The MLA attend various shows on behalf of its’ members offering advice and information on an impartial basis. This is a valuable marketing opportunity whether companies are exhibiting themselves or not. As well as featuring the current MLA Training, Charter and Holidays brochure on the MLA Information Stand at the Tullett Prebon London and PSP Southampton Boat Shows, members are also invited to display their own company brochures for a nominal charge.
MLA/RYA Voucher Participation Scheme
All MLA members are invited to participate in this marketing scheme which promotes your business to new and existing RYA members and will be promoted via RYA publications and the MLA website (www.marineleisure.co.uk/voucher). All participating members also recieve two booklets of complimentary RYA membership vouchers.
Networking Events
During the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show the MLA hosts an MLA/RYA Principal’s meeting. This event provides an opportunity to meet and discuss with other principals, points of common interest. It includes input and updates from the RYA, MCA and BMF. There are also other networking opportunities throughout the year.
Members Newsletters
The MLA regularly sends E-News and information to all members. Members are invited to forward relevant articles for inclusion on the website and news bulletins.
